Welcome!

We know that it's not easy coming to church for the first time.  That's why we are working so hard to make people feel welcome.  Lakewood United Methodist is a Christian faith community seeking to involve people in God's ancient and ongoing story of love.  We are of varied perspectives, races and communities, but our stories intersect in the person of Jesus Christ.

We welcome you to join us in person for any of our gatherings. We think you will like the "no-pressure" opportunity to discover more of your chapter in God's story.

At Lakewood UMC, we offer three Sunday morning worship services as follows:

  • 9:00-10:00 a.m. - Traditional Worship Service (Sanctuary)
    • Our traditional worship time featuring the Chancel Choir, hand bells, children’s choirs and other musical groups, liturgy, scripture reading by laity, a children’s lesson (followed by Children's Church for those 4 years old through 2nd grade), prayers, and a sermon by one of our pastors.
  • 11:11 a.m.-12:10 p.m. - New Song Service (Asbury Hall)
    • Our contemporary worship featuring the Joyful Noise praise band, drama, children’s choirs, kids’ lesson, prayers, and a message by one of our pastors.

                                        Traditional Worship Service (Sanctuary)

    • A traditional worship time with organ, hymns, liturgy, scripture, special music by groups and individuals from the choir, and a sermon by one of our pastors.

Sunday School classes for children, youth and adults are available at 10:10, and nursery care is provided for infants through three years of age from 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Children's Church is offered during the 9:00 service.  For mothers with nursing infants, we have a parlor located beside the Sanctuary where they may view the service over closed-circuit television in relative privacy.  Assistive listening devices, enabling hearing-impaired worshipers to sit anywhere in worship, and large-print hymnals are also available at each service by checking with an usher. Tapes and CDs of the morning message may be purchased at a nominal cost by contacting the church office at 281-370-2273.

In addition to Sunday morning services, monthly praise gatherings led by our youth, known as One-20-One (from Philippians 1:21) are also held.

For special church holidays such as Easter and Christmas, please see the church calendar for worship times.
