Sunday School
Please note that all ages and grades indicated are as of September 1, 2007. Loving child care is provided for children from birth through three years of age from 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. each Sunday in the Ark. Due to liability concerns, parents are required to remain on the premises while their children are in Sunday School or in the nursery.

During the early traditional worship service, we offer Children's Church for children 4 years of age through second grade. Children begin in church with their parents and are escorted from the service by the Children's Church teachers. At the conclusion of the Sanctuary worship service, children must be picked up from the Children's Chapel (in the Ark).

During the second worship hour, we offer child care for infants through four years old in the Ark. Older children are welcome in both the traditional and contemporary worship services, and are encouraged to worship with their parents.
For children to be part of our Sunday School program, simply complete an enrollment form (Adobe Reader required). Enrollment forms are also available from any children's Sunday School teacher.
We encourage families to worship together and children are always welcome in worship. Adults with active children or others needing a more private space during worship times are encouraged to use the parlor (during traditional worship services), equipped with a closed-circuit TV feed and located to the rear of the Sanctuary. If your child will be attending worship with you, you are invited to pick up a children's worship packet as you enter the Sanctuary or Asbury Hall. The packet contains age-appropriate worship bulletins, colored pencils and pipe cleaners to help keep little hands busy. When you leave, please help us by recycling your child's worship packet in the one of the baskets provided.
Confirmation
Confirmation at LUMC is a Discipleship program for 7th graders (and up) who wish to go through the educational and spiritual process of becoming full members of Lakewood United Methodist Church. Classes for 2008 culminated with the welcoming of 38 Confirmands into membership on Confirmation Sunday on March 9. Our next class will be offered in early 2009; please contact Dori in the church office for more information.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is for children (age four through the completion of 6th grade) who enjoy a great week filled with stories, crafts, songs and more; we also provide child care for infants of VBS volunteers. Watch here for information regarding VBS 2008, scheduled for July 14-18.
Promotion Sunday
Promotion Sunday (when children "graduate" to their new Sunday School classes) typically conincides with the beginning of the public school year. Children who are already registered simply need to go to their new classrooms (see above); for those who have not been registered, please complete one enrollment form per child prior to dropping your children off for class.
